  • Time is running out and we are just around the corner of Election Day...as I write this, it is only 3 1/2 hours away. Do we pray enough for God's Divine Will to be done, or do we fret and stew and worry about the idea of the 'wrong' guy being elected as our next president?

I can honestly say I am at peace who ever God allows to be elected...God is in control, and let's just trust Him and be assured that He will continue to be with His Children whatever happens!

Several weeks ago our pastor had a very good message on "The Christians' Role in Voting and Politics" and I jotted down some things he brought out and I will share some of it with you.

--1.With the election coming up-how do we as Christians respond and what is our involvement? 2. Do we pray intercessory prayers for our leaders? 3. Do we actively thank God for them...all them that are in authority?

1Tim. 2:1-5 "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;"

--We need to remember that "the powers that be, are ordained of God." God can and does at times 'wait to move' according to the 'asking' of His people. Scripture also teaches us we need to support and pay tribute to our leaders and government. Are we supposed to support only the 'good' government? Christ's teaching would be to honor and support all those in authority, not just those we 'like'.

Rom. 13: 1-5 --"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall recieve to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister (servant) of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake."

--How do we honor and respect 'bad ' kings or leaders? We need to pray diligently for them...not because of who they are or what they stand for, but because God wants us to pray for them. God is in control, so the most important thing for us to do is pray! God will move accordingly. God does intervene--as His children pray. Sometimes God allows someone (different than we want) to take the authority role-- to accomplish His perfect plan. God never loses an election! If something goes awry, maybe it's because the Church failed in doing their part in praying for God's Will to be done. Can we then humbly accept who God allows to be chosen? We shouldn't pray that a certain man gets chosen, but that God's Will be done! We need to put our complete faith and trust in God. It is our Christian duty to pray, thank God for, and then honor whoever our new leader will be.

--It is also our Christian duty to reconcile the world to God...be a witness to them and show them we are Christ's and that there is Victory in Jesus! II Cor. 5:17-19.

I wish I was a speed writer and could've written down the whole message, but at least we get the point and know what God requires of us. It gives me great comfort to know God is in control!

The video "7 Signs Of Christ's Return" is an eye opener to prophecy and it could be that maybe God will use B. Obama to fulfill His purpose and plan for Islam at this time.

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." Proverbs 3:5

"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is." Jeremiah 17:7

  • A quote that I put on our church sign just last evening:

"God answers prayer - not advice"

  • I believe that what will bring the most GLORY to our Father is what He will choose to bring about.  That gave me peace even in this election.  do we look to "man" to provide safety for us?  we say we don't but then we also shouldn't "fear" if our trust is completely in our heavenly Father is the BEST PROTECTOR there ever was!!!  have a blessed day and keep walking with Jesus... - Rhoda
